I hadn’t seen my mom for over eight years. She was in Nigeria leading one of the public schools. She didn't want to join me here because she wanted to retire.
The last time i saw her was when I invited her to visit when my daughter was about to be born. She came, and for six whole months, she cared for my baby. We laughed, we cried, and we made memories. But eventually, she had to go back home.
We kept in touch through WhatsApp calls. It was nice, but it wasn’t the same. You see, having your mom right there with you and making memories with her makes a lot of difference. It’s warm and comforting.
And guess what? This Mother’s Day, she’s here! We’re making Akara together—a delicious treat from Nigeria. My daughter is here with us, and this feeling cannot be explained. Three generations, side by side, cooking breakfast for the family.
So, to all the moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day! Whether near or far, your love knows no bounds.
